This Website
These databases and archived articles provide information about the successes of Morgan horses in open sport competitions. It showcases Morgans that have reached the highest levels of their respective sports, highlighting those individuals that are currently competing, as well as providing a historical perspective.
The overarching goal of this project is to provide a resource useful to breeders, competitors and others within the Morgan community who are working to improve and promote Morgans in sport. The information presented also give those outside our breed a chance to see what an excellent choice Morgans are as partners in an impressive variety of equine sports.
The sports were chosen based on availability, completeness and quality of information. Prestigious competitions such as Live Oak International and the Tevis Cup are highlighted, and other more general databases are compiled from official discipline-based resources. Sire, dam and, if possible, breeder is included along with a horse’s performance record. All information will be updated as information becomes available and more databases will be added over time.
While the information presented is fact-checked to the greatest of our ability, errors and omissions are inevitable, and we welcome corrections and additions from those browsing the website.
The Morgan Sport Resource website also features articles about noteworthy breeding programs and competitors (both equine and human), studies of Morgan bloodlines in relation to sport, articles on selection for sport, historical articles and more are included and updated as they become available.
Future projects include a Stallion Directory and Photo Gallery.
